Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What is Pepta?
Pepta is a privacy-first GLP-1 medication tracker. It's built for the actual rhythm of treatment: log a shot, see when the next one is due, watch how your weight is moving, and rotate injection sites without thinking about it. Pepta runs entirely on your device by default — no account, no cloud, no analytics that can identify you.
The core tracker is free forever. Pepta Plus is an optional subscription that unlocks deeper features.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Pepta has no accounts. You open the app, set up your medication and dose schedule, and start logging. Everything stays on your device.
What languages does Pepta support?
Pepta is fully translated into 20 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), French, Italian, Catalan, German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Russian, Polish, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Turkish. The app automatically follows your device language — no setting required.
Does using Pepta cost anything to start?
No. Download Pepta, open it, and start logging — the core tracker is genuinely free with no time limit and no account. Pepta Plus only unlocks additional features; nothing on the Free tier is ever taken away.
When will Android be available?
Pepta is iOS-first for v1. Android is on the roadmap for a later release. If you'd like to be notified when Android opens, email hi@peptaapp.com with the subject "Pepta Android launch — notify me" and we'll let you know.
Pepta Plus & billing
What does Pepta Plus include?
Pepta Plus is purely additive on top of the Free tier. It adds:
- The estimated medication-level chart — an ongoing curve built from every dose you log, modeling how each compound is estimated to rise and fall in your system.
- Shot-planning preview — a slider that shows what the curve looks like before your next injection so you can pick the best time.
- Unlimited medications — Free is capped at two active medications. Plus removes the cap entirely.
- Long-range chart ranges — 90-day and All-time views on the weight chart. Free includes Week and Month.
- Goal-ETA forecast — projected date you'll hit your weight goal at your current trend.
- Polished clinician PDFs — branded, clean PDF exports of your dose history, weight chart, and notes for sharing with your clinician.
- Custom themes — extra color schemes beyond the standard navy.
How much does Pepta Plus cost?
Pepta Plus is $9.99 per month or $39.99 per year. The annual plan works out to about $3.33 per month equivalent — you save $80 a year versus paying monthly.
Every new subscriber gets a one-week free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial, and you can cancel any time during it without paying a cent.
How does the free trial work?
When you start Pepta Plus, you get full access for seven days at no charge. Apple will not bill your payment method until the trial ends. To cancel before you're charged, open the app at any point during the trial and go to Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription, then cancel from Apple's screen. Cancellation during the trial means you pay nothing.
How do I cancel my Pepta Plus subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by Pepta. The fastest path is right inside the app: Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription. That deep-links straight to your Apple subscription screen where you can cancel, change plan, or change payment.
You can also cancel directly from your iPhone: Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Pepta Plus → Cancel subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Plus access until then.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds for Pepta Plus are processed by Apple under their standard refund policy. To request one:
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Sign in with the Apple ID that made the purchase.
- Find Pepta Plus in your purchase history.
- Select Request a refund and pick a reason.
Pepta cannot issue refunds directly because we never receive your payment information — Apple handles all billing for us. If Apple denies a refund and you believe it was in error, email hi@peptaapp.com and we'll do our best to help advocate on your behalf, though the final decision rests with Apple.
How do I restore Pepta Plus on a new device?
Open Pepta on the new device, go to Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID that originally purchased Pepta Plus. Restore is free and unlimited — use it any time Plus doesn't show as active.
Data & privacy
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device, in iOS's encrypted local storage. Pepta does not run servers that store user data. There is no Pepta account, no cloud sync from us, no analytics SDK, and no third-party trackers in the binary.
The only network call the app makes is to Apple's purchase APIs for Pepta Plus billing — and even that is handled by Apple's StoreKit, not by Pepta. Apple sees the purchase; Pepta does not.
What data does Pepta collect about me?
None. The App Store privacy survey for Pepta declares "No Data Collected" — meaning no Contact Info, no Health & Fitness data, no Identifiers, no Usage Data, nothing. We can declare this honestly because every byte the app generates lives on your device and never leaves it unless you choose to export it.
How do I back up my data?
Go to Settings → Data → Full JSON backup. The file includes every dose, weight, medication, and setting in one portable document. Save it wherever you want — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email — it's yours.
Your data is also included in your standard iCloud Backup if you have device backup enabled, so a new iPhone restored from iCloud already has your Pepta history.
Can I export a report for my doctor?
Yes. One tap exports a clean PDF — dose history, recent weights, medications, and any notes you've added — generated entirely on-device and ready to share via Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or Files. No email upload required, no Pepta server in the loop.
Polished clinician-ready exports (with branding and extra detail) are included with Pepta Plus. Free users get a clean basic export.
How do I delete all my data?
Two options:
- Inside the app: Settings → Data → Erase all data. This wipes every medication, dose, weight entry, and check-in from this device. There's a five-second safety pause before it actually runs. The action is irreversible — export a JSON backup first if you want a copy.
- By deleting Pepta: removing the app from your device also removes its data, since nothing is stored on a Pepta server.
Reminders & notifications
How do reminders work?
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device using iOS's native notification system — no server is involved. You set the cadence (daily, weekly, custom), and Pepta fires a quiet notification when the next dose is due. The home-screen countdown ring also updates in real time, so you always know what's next.
My reminders aren't firing — what should I check?
Walk through this checklist in order:
- Inside Pepta: Settings → Notifications — confirm reminders are on for the medication you expect.
- System Settings: Settings app → Notifications → Pepta — confirm notifications are allowed.
- Check that your phone isn't in Do Not Disturb / Focus mode at the reminder time (or add Pepta to the allowed apps for that Focus).
- Force-close Pepta and reopen it once. Reopening re-syncs scheduled reminders.
If reminders still don't fire, email hi@peptaapp.com with your iOS version and Pepta version (Settings → About) — we'll help track it down.
Does Pepta work without an internet connection?
Yes. Pepta is fully offline-capable. Reminders, the home-screen countdown, weight tracking, dose logging, charts, and the daily check-in all work without the internet. The only thing that requires the network is purchasing or restoring Pepta Plus.
Medications & devices
Which GLP-1 medications does Pepta support?
Pepta supports the major GLP-1 medications:
- Weekly injections: Mounjaro and Zepbound (tirzepatide), Wegovy and Ozempic (semaglutide), Trulicity (dulaglutide).
- Daily injections: Saxenda and Victoza (liraglutide).
- Oral: Rybelsus (oral semaglutide).
The cadence (daily, weekly, or custom) and dose units adjust automatically to match your medication. We add support for new FDA-approved GLP-1 medications as they launch — if your medication isn't listed, email hi@peptaapp.com.
Can I track more than one medication at a time?
Yes. Free supports up to two active medications at once — enough for the common "switching from one drug to another" scenario or for people on a combination regimen. Pepta Plus removes the cap and supports unlimited medications.
Does Pepta sync with Apple Health?
Not in v1. Apple Health integration is on the roadmap for a future release. When it ships, you'll be able to opt in to share weight and dose data with Apple Health — but it will be off by default, on your terms.
What iOS version do I need?
Pepta requires iOS 15 or later. The app runs on every iPhone that supports iOS 15 — that's iPhone 6s (2015) and newer. iPad is not supported in v1.
Medical & safety
Is Pepta FDA-cleared or HIPAA-compliant?
No. Pepta is an educational tracking tool. It is not a medical device, it is not FDA-cleared, and it is not HIPAA-compliant. We do not diagnose, treat, prevent, or advise on any medical condition.
For anything about your medication, doses, side effects, or treatment plan, please contact the clinician who prescribed your medication. For emergencies, call your local emergency number.
Can Pepta tell me what dose to take?
No. Pepta only tracks the dose you log. It doesn't recommend doses, doesn't flag whether a dose is "right" or "wrong," and doesn't replace clinical judgment. The estimated medication-level chart shown in Pepta Plus is a personal-tracking visualization built from pharmacokinetic models in the published literature — it's an educational view of how the compounds you've logged decay over time, not a prescription.
